A mutation is a change of a cell’s DNA. This may cause the cell to become cancerous, or it may not. Most of the mutations that cause cancer happen after a person is born, and so they cannot be inherited. There are a few mutations that are inheritable, that can be passed from generation to generation. Mesothelioma is not hereditary.
