Experimental procedures are just what they sound like. Any procedure that has not been tested and proven to be effective and safe is experimental. This included both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Any of these procedures can be studied in a clinical trial. If trials are finished successfully, a procedure can eventually change from being experimental to being the standard of care.
