Epidemiology is the study of where diseases occur in time and place. It is the study of diseases in groups of people. The study is done by collecting and then analyzing information about the diseases, or data. Scientists studying the epidemiology of cancer are trying to find patterns that may suggest exposures to certain agents, or family clusters, or any other information that may help make understanding and treating cancer easier.
