Cure

While the survival rate for mesothelioma has improved recently, there is currently not a complete mesothelioma cure.  Treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation combined with surgery to remove a diseased lung have shown to put mesothelioma patients into remission, allowing patients more time for survival and more time with family.
The common length of prognosis often given to mesothelioma patients is 4-18 months, however, there has been an increase in the number of cases of patients who have lived for five years or longer after a mesothelioma diagnosis due to better treatment options.  If mesothelioma is diagnosed in an early stage, there is a higher chance of the patient surviving longer.  There are palliative treatments available to mesothelioma patients that can also make it easier to live with the disease and may extend your survival rate.
