What actually happens during a radiation procedure? How long does it take? Will it be painful?

Once you arrive for your appointment, you will be given a hospital gown to wear. You will get set up in the determined position, with drapes, pillows or whatever else is needed for you to comfortably get into position. There will also be heavy shielding put over areas to prevent exposure to the radiation.

You will not feel the radiation. You do not have to hold your breath. The actual time you will be getting treatment will probably be 5 to 15 minutes. Then you will be free to change and leave the facility.
